description
Chromodome is a hemispherical array of circular LED spotlights, 43 inches in diameter. It vaguely resembles a giant, spotted and speckled, unblinking, color-changing eyeball. The substructure holding it all together is a 4-frequency geodesic dome. A circuit board with 90 red, green and blue LEDs is attached to each of the 71 non-equatorial vertices. Like Corona, Chromodome is both a non-cartesian display and an illumination device. Viewed directly, patterns and abstract images move across it in spherical coordinates. Hanging from a ceiling or pointed up at a dome, it lights up a space with addressable cones of color. notable appearances
